Obituary of Ryonald Scott Rosenthal
Ryonald Rosenthal
1958 - 2024
Ryonald Scott Rosenthal, of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, passed away on July 7, 2024, at the age of 66, completing a long and valiant battle with the many complications of kidney disease. Ryonald is survived by his wife, and devoted caregiver, of 41 years, Beryl (Spence); his children, Jordan and Kathryn Rosenthal; his siblings, Roger Rosenthal (Starla Kemp) and Barb (Randy) Kohut; mother, Geraldine Rosenthal; and many nieces and nephews on both his and Beryl’s side of the family. Ryonald was predeceased by his father, Arthur Rosenthal. The Rosenthals frequently got together for special occasions, and these times with family were a highlight to Ryonald.
Ryonald was born on May 2, 1958, in Lanigan, Saskatchewan to Art and Gerri Rosenthal. He attended SIAST in Moose Jaw, where he graduated with his Architectural Technology diploma. He stayed with this career throughout his life, working for a variety architects and engineers. This career was well suited to Ryonald’s attention to detail, his interest and expertise in technology and also enabled him to work at home through some of his years of illness. Some of his projects included the Herb Bassett Home and Victoria Hospital, and many other buildings in the Prince Albert area.
He met his wife Beryl in Prince Albert, and they were married in June of 1983. Beryl introduced Ryonald to the Gospel of Christ, and he recognized his need and desire for faith; this commitment remaining his leading light to his final day. Beryl and Ryonald had daughter Kathryn in 1988, and son Jordan in 1992. Ryonald’s love for his children was beyond measure, and he enjoyed being an active part in his kids activities, coaching soccer, playing golf at Turtle Lake and participating with them in Tae Kwon Do. The kids have fond memories of watching movies, building computers with their Dad and attending a variety of rock concerts. His family jokes about his love of popcorn, as well as McDonald’s, so much so that after his kidney disease diagnosis required a change in diet, his fervent prayer was that he would please be able to go to McDonald’s again some day!
Ryonald had the advantage of having a great friend group and he was always so happy to be with these faithful friends.
His one hundred percent favourite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13, “I can do EVERYTHING through HIM who gives me strength.” Ryonald’s faith and fortitude for a full life during 24 years of battling literally every imaginable complication/effect of his polycystic kidney disease was and is an example to us all. He has left a legacy for his friends and family, and a hole that will not easily be healed.
