Obituary of Sara Wiebe

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Sara Wiebe. Sara was born August 4 1933 in Gruenthal, SK to Henry and Helen Siemens. Mom resided in or close to Delisle SK for the last 65 years of her life. She passed away Tuesday, June 25th at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

Mom was known for her excellent cooking, and renowned for her baking. Her buns and pies were always in high demand throughout the community. She had a tremendous love of animals, and made the lives of many lucky dogs and cats exceptional. Even poinsettias couldn't perish from year to year under her care. She had great pride and love for her 3 boys and their families. She was a keen follower of sports, especially when they involved her family. Her greatest disappointment was her hearing loss in later years which made her apprehensive about conversation and social events. She will be sadly missed by her family Wayne (Aileen), Byron and Terry (Tammy) along with grandchildren Lianne (Curt) Korte, Brad (Alana) Oviatt, Jill (Logan Hamilton), Renee, Emily, Jordan (Taylor Barber) and Brant (Teigan Dumont), as well as Great Grandchildren Hudson, Evelyn, Thea, Baldr and Hugo.

Sara was predeceased by her parents, and her sisters Tena Fehr, Elma Braun, Ann MacKenzie, Martha Dyck, Edna Hamm and brothers George and Henry Siemens. She is survived by her sisters Mary Klassen, Nettie Friesen, Peggy Hamm and Eva Dyck as well as brother Johnny Siemens and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family.

We would like to acknowledge the work of Dr.'s Basi and Basrah who were instrumental in getting her TAVI surgery in 2017 which extended her life, and quality of life immensely. We would also like to thank the paramedics and the first responders who attended to her in Delisle, as well as Dr. Cooley and the other neurologists, nurses and caregivers who were incredibly efficient and compassionate during her time at RUH.

Mom has requested that there is no funeral, gathering or memorial for her. Growing up, we didn't always listen to our Mom, but today we will. We respectfully ask for privacy at this time.

If you would like to make a donation in her name, we feel the Saskatoon SPCA is a worthy cause.
