We wish to send condolences to Iona's family on her passing. I grew up with Iona and her siblings in Leipzig, SK. My best memory of Iona was when she made this amazing catch of a well-hit softball. During the summer evenings most of the kids in town gathered at the school ball diamond to play softball. One evening Iona was playing in left field when the batter hit a long, high ball in her direction. Now playing left field was not easy since there was a rise there and a large outhouse for student necessities. Iona went back, back tracking the ball to try and make the catch. When she got under the ball, she was in an awkward position to use her glove, so she simply reached up and caught the ball with her bare hand. WOW!
