To Don & the Family of Faye Shaughnessy:
I share your sadness on the passing of a great lady. During my high school years, one of the benefits of being a member of the Nutana Curling Club was meeting some wonderful people like Faye & Don Shaughnessy and Tom & Joyce Gordon. I recall one weekend when Don & Tom joined with Gord Knapp & myself to travel to Watrous for a bonspiel. It was a bitterly cold time and when the Watrous ice maker flooded the ice prior to the competition, the new flood didn't bond with the existing ice, creating a condition known as "shaling". I can't remember whether we won or lost but I do remember being hosted by Tom & Joyce, at their home in Saskatoon, for a wonderful post-game dinner with Faye & Don.
While I left Saskatoon to attend the University of Alberta after high school and I currently reside on a small farm in Alberta, I usually get back to my home town at least once a year. Hopefully on my next trip it will be possible for me to stop by for a visit with Don.
