I have countless memories of Don. I met him in 1983 at a Christian Retreat in Beaverton, Ontario. He was the primary speaker at that time. He made a presentation titled “Lest We Forsake”. It was a tremendous presentation. I was new to a local Alliance church. He write out a dozen names from that particular community. He said “go and see these people and LISTEN to them”. “In those dozen names were more than a thousand years of life’s journeys”. I spent the next 14 years sitting with those people. It was a life changing experience for me. Now many years later, most of those on that list are gone. I often think of “how much of me is actually me?” And, how much of me if the totality of OTHERS? Don had a deep reverence for “seniors”. There was great wisdom in that reverence. Don was a great person to LISTEN to. He is greatly missed.

Don was the husband of my very good friend, Pat. Each time I met Don I found him to be an inviting and warm person - definitely Chaplain material. I am so sorry that he struggled with health issues the past few years. My deepest condolences to Pat and all of Don's family. This picture is from 2006 - the first time I met Don. He was certainly a dashing young fellow at the age of 15.

My Tribute to Don Peake
I am Don’s brother-in-law. I’ve known Don for 65 years. That was just after I had met his sister, later to become my wife, and to whom I was married for almost 60 years, until her passing in 2016. Don also has two remaining brothers in Ontario. When Don was a young man of 15, we often went to wrestling matches and always cheered for the bad guy, much to the disgust of some dear old ladies sitting nearby. We often went for Pie and Coffee, and I would always try to set him up for a date, terribly embarrassing him as well as the waitress. After we went to Germany and Austria, he too entered the ministry. Later becoming a Chaplain and ultimately Ontario government’s head chaplain (I forget the title).
Later in life we lived close to each other in Saskatoon and had the privilege of getting together more often. We even had a great time visiting Europe together with our spouses and enjoying some of the beautiful places where I had worked and travelled during my stint there of 13 years. Don loved it. Pictures when he was 15 and in Germany.
I will miss him.
