So sad to hear and read about my good friend Clarke. My first friend i made when i came to Canada in 1968. Such a special and kind man, we kept in touch all these years.My heart goes out to his wife and family. Love the pictures shown..one is like his grade11/12 picture. Thinking of all of you..Stephen

Cheryl, Julie, Jason and Curtis Words seem inadequate to express the profound feeling of sadness and loss we have felt at the passing of this kind and gentle man. I grew up with the privilege of having Clarke as my cousin. He was always ready to show me how to throw a ball farther or hold a bat better or how road hockey should be played. I was a few years younger than Clarke but that never seemed to matter to him although I know it must have been harder to hang around town with this kid on his coat tails. He was always there ready to actually listen and discuss whatever was on our minds. And most of the time it was sports. I remember when the scouts would come to Outlook to watch him play hockey and was always in awe of his abilities at whatever sport he participated in. After we moved to Kelowna he came out to stay with us for a while and tried out for the local minor league baseball team. He tried out as a catcher and would come home with bruises on the palm of his catching hand and told me that "Gee these guys throw hard". But he went back each and every day for a week. That he even tried out for such an opportunity filled me with wonder and pride at his drive and determination to try for every opportunity life would throw at him. Then my Dad bought a boat. Clarke was there for that huge event and we took no time in learning to water ski along with the finer points of how to fall with no dignity or grace and just how hard water can be. But boy, did we have fun. I will miss his wisdom, his smile and that wonderful laugh that came often and without effort. Our lives have been forever altered by this loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to you who knew him best and loved him most. Take care.

I was really saddened by the news of Clarke’s passing. I have many great memories of growing up through elementary and high school with Clarke ( Willie ) as we called him. We shared many good times playing hockey, football and golf. Willie was a very good athlete. We also shared many good times at the old pool hall playing pool or shuffleboard. Willie was a very gentle and humble person and was a really good friend. My sincere condolence go out to al of his family.
